Sight-seeing in a bike

Daphne’s Club invites you to a different sight-seeing tour of Athens, organised by “pame volta travel” : Sight-seeing on a bike!

Thanks to Athens’ 2006 Olympic Games preparations, a wonderful pedestrian zone was created to encircle the city’s most important archaeological sights, the so-called “Grande Promenade” . The “Grande Promenade” provides for an exciting walk along the paths of history, leading from the Antiquity to contemporary Greece, with stops in-between to get glimpses of Athens during Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman times and the Greek revolution.

You will be led on your bikes on this relaxed journey through Athens and its history, through the “Grande Promenade” and other picturesque quiet side streets in the city’s historical centre. You will get to visit the majority of must-see sites in Athens: the Temple of Olympian Zeus & Hadrian’s Arch, Plaka & Anafiotika, Roman Forum & Tower of the Winds, Ancient Agora, Kerameikos and Ancient Theater of Dionyssos. And because there is more to sight-seeing than… sight-seeing, you can also taste the most traditional Greek snacks: “tyropitta”, “souvlaki, “café frappé” and much more according to your own wishes!

If you have already visited Athens and would prefer another itinerary, “pame volta” has other bike tours on offer too:

- The Marathon national park: an itinerary that takes you from the Canoe-Kayak Olympic venue to the Mediterranean stone forest and the Schinias wetland, where you can watch many wild bird species breeds or nest (Glossy Ibis, Little and Great Egrets, Grey and Purple Herons, Marsh Harriers).
- The former royal estate of Tatoi: an itinerary that takes you through the greenest and most beautiful mountain near Athens to the royal cemetery, the Palace and some of the 40 historic buildings of the former King of Greece.
